"Like my Brother, I too was born and raised in Wyoming. After high school I went to Duluth, MN where I played soccer and earned a degree in exercise physiology and athletic training. Right out of school I went to work for a Physical Therapy clinic in Casper and was given the opportunity to get into the pharmaceutical industry as a product representative. During that time I longed for the connection with the patients I once had and also realized the need for more medical providers in our state. I decided to go back to school at the age of 30 and become a Certified Physician Assistant. By the grace of God I was accepted to the Class of 2012 at Eastern Virginia Medical School. I realized early on in my medical education that I wanted to do family medicine and focused my rotations on this field. I knew when I graduated and passed my exam I would come back Casper.
I started right out of school with my brother, Dr. Jason Strand and his partner at the time Dr. Eric Lawrence. After some time, Jason and I moved into the hospital system. I’ve worked at Sage Primary Care for the last five and a half years taking care of the people of Casper, and what a blessing it has been. Once again I’ve joined my brother in a new medical practice with an exciting new medical model known as the DPC (Direct Primary Care). Since starting his practice I have seen first-hand how he is taking care of his patients and it is invigorating. In a system that, in my opinion, has become obsessed with money and speed and forgotten about what is truly important, the patient, he has been able to make a living and get time back with his patients and his family. In this situation everyone wins."
