"Dr. Militza Ausmanas was born in Caracas, Venezuela. At age 5, her family moved to New Jersey where she grew up and met her high school sweetheart and husband Jeff. She attended Penn State University where she earned two Bachelor of Science degrees, the first in biology and the second in health policy and administration, graduating in 2000. Inspired by her mother, an OB/GYN physician, Dr. Ausmanas attended Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, from which she graduated in 2007. She completed her residency at the Williamsport Family Medicine Residency in Williamsport, Pennsylvania where she was chief resident and enjoyed time volunteering on the medical staff for the Little League World Series.
In 2010, Dr. Ausmanas started working at a 20-bed critical access hospital in rural southwestern Virginia. Her time there included emergency medicine, hospital medicine and seeing patients in the family practice office. She moved to Olympia in 2013 to be closer to family, spending five years at Capital Medical Center. A desire for a smaller town closer to the mountains attracted her to the North Olympic Peninsula where she worked at Olympic Medical Physicians in Port Angeles before joining Sequim Medical Associates in 2019.
Dr. Ausmanas enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband Jeff. She absolutely loves to hike, snowshoe and backpack. Other favorite diversions include cooking, gardening, board games, painting, photography and tending to her aquariums. She is also fluent in Spanish and enjoys finding opportunities to use her second language skills.
Dr. Ausmanas believes in empowering her patients through education. She feels that patient/doctor relationships built on strong two-way communication lead to better health and happier patients. Taking the time to listen, understand and learn about a patient is key to developing personalized care plans that work best for an individual. Her excitement for improving a patient’s life is contagious!"
