"Dr. John McConnell is an internal medicine physician with Inova VIP 360 concierge medicine who uses evidence-based medicine to provide effective patient-centered care. He says his favorite part of practicing primary care medicine is the opportunity to personalize a patient’s health plan.”Because of advances in medical research, decisions that used to be routine now deserve a thoughtful discussion with each patient,” says McConnell. “One of the best aspects of the VIP 360° program is the ability to have the time to talk about their issues in detail, and help them make the best decision about their healthcare. As a patient, there’s nothing worse than feeling rushed into a decision you don’t fully understand because the doctor doesn’t have time to answer all your questions.”
Originally from the Northern Virginia area, Dr. McConnell studied chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis before pursuing his medical education. He won the Merck Index Award for his contributions to research in the chemistry department, the product of which was eventually published in a 2012 paper in the European Biophysics Journal. During his residency at the University of Virginia, results from his research were published in the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Dr. McConnell had the privilege of presenting a medical case at the annual meeting of the American College of Physicians in 2015."
