"Dr. William D. Shepard attended Rice University where he obtained his BS in bioengineering in 2009. He then received his DDS from the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston in 2014 and graduated as a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. His training continued at one of the nation’s best medical schools, the University of Alabama at Birmingham. There, he completed an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2015, attained his MD in 2017, completed an internship in general surgery in 2018, and earned his certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2020. Also, during his time in Birmingham, he served as chief resident from 2019-2020.
To better serve our patients, Dr. Shepard applies his training as a bioengineer, dentist, surgeon, and physician here at Piney Point OMS. He is intrigued by innovative technology and its integration into medicine. His skill set and interests include traditional dentoalveolar procedures, oral pathology, temporomandibular joint and facial pain, surgical correction of jaw asymmetries and sleep apnea, dental and facial trauma, non-surgical facial rejuvenation, and pediatric-specific procedures. To stay abreast of the latest advancements in his field, he is a member of multiple professional organizations at both the local and national levels.
