"Dr. Jose Franquiz was born in Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela. He always had a passion for science and thus pursued a career in medicine. He completed medical school in 2004. Thereafter, he did a rural community service as general practitioner for a year in Los Angelinos, San Mateo, Venezuela. He practiced general surgery and emergency medicine for two years, before making the decision to move to the United States of America.
Dr. Franquiz moved to the US in October 2006. He volunteered in Earl K. Long, a charity hospital, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana until eligible to start residency. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine from Louisiana State University school of medicine in 2014. He completed his board certification as well that same year and has been practicing since then in hospital medicine. Dr. Franquiz is also registered with the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas to be able to prescribe medical marijuana for specific conditions identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety."
