"Dr. Steven M. Pounders was born and raised in Dallas, TX and graduated from Hillcrest High School. He earned a BA from Austin College in Sherman, TX with a concentration in German and General Science. He played piano and oboe with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and the Sherman Symphony. He received his MD from UTMB in Galveston, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He began his work at UT Southwestern as co director of the AIDS clinic in 1988 for 1 year and then went in to private practice in Dallas.
He has privileges at Baylor University Medical Center, Texas Health Resources—Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, UT Southwestern as consultant, and is a member of the new Accountable Care Organizations Baylor Quality Alliance and at UTSW. He is medical director of the Resource Center of Dallas, is credentialed with the HIV Academy of Medicine and Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is a major donor with HRC, sponsors the Black Tie Dinner of Dallas, Lambda Legal, and Legacy Counseling. He enjoys mid-century architecture and art and loves automobiles."
