"Christopher M. Edens, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist. As a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, he has over 8 years of experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of skin conditions.
Dr. Edens majored in Biology at the United States Air Force Academy, where he was a Distinguished Graduate with academic and military honors. He obtained his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed initial internship training in Family Medicine at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. He served as a primary care physician at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, where he served in a broad range of capacities including operational medical support to field exercises and a deployment. Returning to his longstanding interest in dermatology, he completed dermatology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, serving as Chief Resident during his final year. He served as a military general dermatologist at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia before returning as faculty at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium dermatology residency.
Dr. Edens is active in high-quality patient care and resident education as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He serves as the Medical Director for the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Dermatology Department and is the director of medical student and resident rotations. He has been selected as the top physician educator twice in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 by the graduating dermatology residents of the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. He has a strong interest in the use of dermoscopy for the early detection of skin cancer and in the use of lifestyle medicine interventions to address the broader aspects of health."
