"Dr. Julie Turner completed her undergraduate degree in chemistry at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She attended medical school and completed her residency in both obstetrics/gynecology and general surgery at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Turner has served as both the Vice Chief and Chief of the Department of Ob/Gyn at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tennessee.
Dr. Turner has worked with Women’s Care Group since 2005, but joining the field of obstetrics and gynecology was not her first choice when she started medical school. “When I began actually doing the rotations, I found that I loved the variety of ob/gyn. I loved the birth, I loved getting to know your patients, and I loved really getting to focus on one specialty.” Dr. Turner extends that same passion for her specialty to the care and attention she gives each of her patients. She values the importance of sitting down and talking with each patient. “Caring for my patients means I know their individual needs and concerns, and that I address what can be fixed based on best practices, based on what research has shown is most helpful.” Dr. Turner believes her role as a physician is to act, in part, as a guide and a resource, enabling patients to find happier, healthier lives regardless of their age or stage in life."
