"Dr. Sean P. Hampton was born in Western Pennsylvania. He graduated with honors from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with a bachelors of science degree. He then went on to obtain his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in 2008. He chose the field of Family Medicine as a speciality and obtained his board certification at UPMC Altoona. Dr. Hampton has been a local family physician in the area since 2010. His decision to go into Family Medicine was based on his strong desire to help people achieve their optimal state of health and wellness. His colleagues have stated that he is a “people person”; he enjoys listening to the unique histories of each of his patients. Knowing the unique history of his patients allows him to develop a personalized approach for each patient. His training in Osteopathic Medicine emphasizes the mind, body, and spirit connection which he utilizes when treating patients. He believes an integrative approach to health is essential. This integrative approach can not only treat disease but also help prevent it. His style is based in traditional Family Medicine but with a holistic, functional medicine approach. He still prescribes medications and has worked in various settings including Family Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Long Term Care, Urgent Care, and Emergency Medicine. He takes pride in practicing low cost family medicine. He believes in providing care that is comprehensive and patient driven which results in fewer adverse outcomes and lower costs. Determining appropriate treatment can reduce unnecessary testing and therefore improve outcomes. Recently, he received his certification in IV nutritional therapy from the International IV Nutritional Therapy for Professionals. He is very enthusiastic about expanding his knowledge base and is currently pursuing additional training within the field of Functional Medicine, Medical Acupuncture, and Regenerative Medicine. Along with many interests in his professional life, he also has a wide variety of hobbies. He enjoys hiking, mountain biking, cycling, exercising, and snowboarding. He tries to live the same life that he preaches to his patients by eating healthy and staying active on a daily basis. Dr. Hampton lives an active lifestyle in Altoona with his girlfriend Maya and their dog Hammy. Hammy is a German Shepherd and is considered to be the mascot of the office. Kisses from Hammy are free of charge with membership! Dr. Hampton hopes to expand on this Direct Primary Care endeavor and develop programs to expand the health of the entire community."
