"I am a board certified mental health nurse practitioner working with children and adults with needs such as ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety and other behavioral issues. My approach is a behavioral one, looking at the cause of a situation and determining the foundation. From there we can work on how to manage the situation.
My primary focus is with children and adolescents, working on behavioral situations, school situations, home life situations, or other situations that are causing distress. I do however also work with adults with similar issues. I do provide medication support, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Having raised two children has given me the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of Asperger Syndrome, ADHD, anxiety and depression. I understand how it feels to have a child who is not “fitting into the right mold” and have extensive experience in negotiating through the school systems, working with IEP suggestions, working with teachers and school behaviorist so that we are able to help your child be as successful as possible.
Initial appointments for assessments are done in the beginning of the day, after school appointments for follow up are made by special arrangements. I work hard to avoid having a child miss school. If you are bringing in your child for an initial Attention Deficit Disorder appointment, you will find forms for your teacher that I would like you to have them fill out. They may email or fax them back to me."
