"Modern medicine and surgery have a lot to offer, but the human element in the doctor-patient relationship remains at the heart of healing. I approach each patient as a unique and whole individual, not an isolated diseased organ. Healing is an active process for the patient; my role is to guide and facilitate. I believe the physical and psychological state of the patient must be taken into consideration to optimize healing and recovery from illness.
Our daily stress level, diet, amount of rest and exercise, as well as social and family support systems are all important determinants of health. I incorporate nutrition, diet, exercise and stress management in therapeutic as well as preventive protocols. These lifestyle factors must be optimized to maximize recovery and well-being.
As a patient, you become an active partner. This allows you to really be in charge of improving your own health and changing the outcome of disease."
