"I studied to become a Physician Assistant at the George Washington School of Medicine in Washington, DC finishing in 2001. After practicing in the DC area for a few years, I returned to my native NC to be close to family. Practicing in Emergency Medicine for eight years and Anesthesiology for nine years provided a solid foundation in medicine. During this journey, it became apparent though that there are so many other modalities to prevent and treat health conditions. Of course I am grateful for acute care medicine, but chronic conditions are not best treated with just another pill! Through some personal health challenges, I learned firsthand the impact of eating patterns & lifestyle habits on improving one's health. I first learned of Functional Medicine in 2013, and it quickly became a passion of mine, as its goal is to treat the root cause of disease, not just mask the symptoms with medication. I started formally studying Functional Medicine in 2017, and became a Certified Provider through the Institute for Functional Medicine at the end of 2019. I am excited to be a part of Benton Integrative Medicine!
In my spare time, I enjoy yoga, hiking, paddle boarding, reading, traveling & spending time with my two daughters."
