"Dr. Janelle Sunwoo MD is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. She was one of a very few chosen by the prestigious Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education in New York City; a unique, accelerated medical program that emphasizes the need for primary care physicians in New York. While there, she was exposed to cultural competence and awareness, performed community health assessments, and worked throughout New York City to promote preventive medicine. She was also president of a New York chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association and is a strong advocate for women’s health.
Dr. Sunwoo received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York and had been awarded a fellowship in research assessing the treatment of depression. Additionally, she volunteered her time at international clinics in Costa Rica and Puerto Rico where she treated the local population. Dr. Sunwoo then completed her Internal Medicine residency at Winthrop University Hospital where she led medical rounds with residents, was a clinical lecturer for SUNY medical students, and was a class leader for their internal medicine residency education committee. Dr. Sunwoo continues to broaden her knowledge base and has extended into medical care in the home. She has written a reference book for the effective treatment of homebound patients cared for by home health aids and personal care assistants. She is currently, a founding member of Everyday Care Inc., a licensed home care agency, where she is Vice President and Medical Director."
