"Being a physician assistant in primary care and cardiology is much more than a career for Robin Osorio. It is a way to make a real difference in the lives of others.
As a young girl in the Bronx, Robin witnessed her share of poverty and violence. Encouraged by her grandmother to take action, Robin set out to change the world. She was admitted to The Bronx High School of Science because of her aptitude for science and math. Initially, she worked in forensic science to help convict criminals. But she sought to do more and started a degree in organic chemistry, hoping to discover a cure for cancer. Ultimately, she found the physician assistant career and she couldn’t be happier.
“The rewards in this career are incredible,” she said. “It’s a journey for me and for my patients that we’re able to share.”
Robin brings years of experience in cardiology care to Vanguard Medical Group. She has worked both in heart surgery and in a cardiology specialty practice. She also has experience in an urgent care setting and in rehabilitation and pain management. At Vanguard, she’s utilizing her background at two locations: one specializing in cardiology and the other in primary care.
Her philosophy is to take care of the whole patient, which includes preventive care and lifestyle changes, as well as urgent care. “I listen and let the patient guide me through their problems,” she said. “You cannot know how to help a patient until you have the conversation. That takes time, but in the long term, it is so worthwhile.”"
