"How many times have you been to a doctor due to pain during one of your favorite activities and their answer was, “just stop doing that”? Or been told that your lifestyle is unhealthy but you weren’t given any tips to help improve it? What about being advised to work on your stress as your physician was running out the door? Well, I’m here to tell you that ends TODAY. As a board-certified family physician with a focus in lifestyle and musculoskeletal medicine, nutrition, mind-body medicine, and corrective exercise, I can help you optimize your health and wellness while still living a life you enjoy!
I have done my best to actively practice this balance during my ongoing competitive career as a strongman and highland games athlete throughout my time in medicine. My previous history as an athlete in football, powerlifting, functional fitness, triathlon, obstacle racing, and martial arts has given me a unique perspective when it comes to approaching patients as athletes and athletes as patients. A strong body and mind are crucial to long-term wellness for all of us.
Weightlifting and medicine are my passions, and I want to show you all how closely connected the two can be. Just as I use my knowledge of functional anatomy and physiology as a strength coach, I bring in all aspects of strength and conditioning to use in the treatment and prevention of disease. Exercise is often the best medicine!
Physical health does not exist in isolation, however, as the mind has an incredible amount of power over the body. I have learned this firsthand not just through my additional training in mind-body medicine and meditation, but also during my own battle with mental illness. It is for this reason that I am a huge advocate for mental health awareness and eliminating the stigma around mental illness. Your mental health IS your physical health, and I am here to help you optimize both.
When I’m not seeing patients, meditating, or putting in hours in my garage gym, I write articles and make videos for drmeathead.com, hang out with my beautiful wife and dogs, listen to live music, eat burritos, and do pretty much anything that involves the outdoors.
SteadyMD allows me to dig deep with my patients, taking a proactive and preventative approach to care instead of spending money and time on reactionary measures. Let’s make my dream of a stronger, healthier, and happier world come true together."
