"Dr. Larry D. Field was raised in Natchez, Mississippi. After receiving a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University, Dr. Field obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1988 from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Dr. Field’s subsequent professional training includes a 5-year orthopaedic surgery residency completed in 1993 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center as well. Following graduation, Dr. Field completed a surgical fellowship (subspecialty training) in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. While in New York, he served as assistant team physician for the New York Mets professional baseball team. In addition, Dr. Field completed an A-O International Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship in Germany.
Dr. Field is Board certified in the specialty of orthopaedic surgery with special expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery. He is active in multiple surgical specialty associations and belongs to several other professional organizations and corporate boards. In addition, Dr. Field is very involved in research related to shoulder and elbow pathologies and has given more than 500 scientific presentations worldwide and is acknowledged in the orthopaedic surgery community as an international expert in the management of shoulder and elbow conditions.
Dr. Field has authored or co-authored 6 books on shoulder and elbow problems, more than 100 scientific journal articles and over 80 book chapters, all related to shoulder and elbow conditions. Also, Dr. Field recently completed his service as president of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and currently serves on AANA’s Board of Directors. Finally, Dr. Field also serves as Fellowship Program Director for Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center’s highly regarded Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship training program."
