"Dr. Soden, Jr. is a board-certified Dermatologist and fellowship-trained in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology. He is an expert in the management of skin cancer as well as both cosmetic and general Dermatology. He has specialized training in the use of lasers in all skin types as well as skin fillers, and Botox like products. Dr. Soden, Jr. also has a particular interest in the management and surgical removal of keloids, especially from the ears, as well as the treatment of vitiligo with the new and highly specialized Excimer laser. Dr. Soden, Jr. is a Maryland native. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he graduated with honors and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. He obtained his medical degree from the prestigious Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and returned to the University of Maryland Medical Center to complete his internal medicine internship. Subsequently, Dr. Soden, Jr. completed his Dermatology residency at the University of California Irvine. During his training, he had the privilege of learning under the celebrated ethnic skin care specialist Dr. Paul Kelly and renowned cosmetic, laser and Mohs surgeon Dr. Christopher Zachary. Following his residency, Dr. Soden, Jr. served as a practicing Dermatologist in the United States Army at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. During his final years in the US Armed Forced he proudly served as a general medical officer in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He attained the rank of Major before exiting the military in the summer of 2010.
Dr. Soden, Jr. completed an intensive American College of Mohs Surgery fellowship in Macon, Georgia in 2011. During his training he performed nearly 2000 complex Mohs surgical and reconstruction cases. With his broad experience, Dr. Soden, Jr. is a valuable resource not only to general practitioners but also to other Dermatologists and Surgeons who currently treat skin cancer for his ability to assist in the management of large or high-risk tumors, recurrent skin cancers and complications.
