"Dr. Alain Chesnut was born in November 1972, in the city of Norman, Oklahoma. During early childhood, his father worked in the oil industry and moved the family overseas. They lived in Europe, Africa and South America finally settling in South Louisiana. Alain started his education in Houma, LA at Acadian Elementary School. Due to the ever-changing economy the family moved again to Lake Charles, LA where they lived for several more years. It wasn’t until entering middle school that life would bring them back to Houma. Alain Chesnut attended Houma Jr. High and later graduated from Terrebonne High School. Early in high school fostered by a deep love for people and the intricacies of science he planned to pursue the study of Medicine. He attended Nicholls State University and later transferred to The University of Southwestern LA in Lafayette where he attained a Bachelors of Science in Biology.
The study of Medicine was put on hold. He met and married his wife Stacey. Initially, he worked as an oilfield service technician, ever the nomad, working on several rigs throughout the Gulf.
The young couple moved back to Houma and Alain spent ten years working locally with his wife’s family business Antique Brick, learning the ropes of the building industry while selling bricks. They had three children along the way. At the age of 35, following the sale of the family business, a dormant dream resurfaced fueled by passion and courage. The Chesnut family left their home in Houma to live and study Medicine abroad. A fourth child was born and the family was complete.
Four rigorous years of Medical school passed. The third and fourth years of clinical training were spent back in Houma at Leonard J Chabert, a true blessing. This was followed by three years of postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine at Leonard J Chabert where the dream became a reality. At long last, with constant support from a loving wife and children friends and family, the boyhood dreams to take care of the needy and make a positive impact in people’s life was realized. He became Dr. Alain Chesnut, ready to provide care to his family, friends and community in the Heart of South Louisiana."
