Princess Dennar, MD

"Dr. Princess E. Dennar is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Care Medical Center, LLC. She is responsible for the company’s innovative vision of delivering combined wellness and health care in person and through the virtual MD Connect. In addition, she created some of PCMC's products, such as the VIP Premium Concierge Membership Services, Developmental Screening Clinic, and the community outreach Daycare Developmental Surveillance Program.

Dr. Dennar earned her BS in biology from Haverford College in 1998 and her medical degree from MCP-Hahnemann (Drexel University) Medical School in 2002. Following her internship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 2003, she completed combined training in the Internal Medicine and Pediatric Residency Program in 2006. She is currently board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics. 

In 2007, Dr. Dennar worked as a physician at the Philadelphia Health Department, helping to implement health care safety net services for underserved communities. In addition, she served as Director of Community Health Care Services with a non-profit organization called the United African Educational Foundation, where she was instrumental in developing obesity prevention projects and safe-sex projects for adolescent females in the inner city of Philadelphia and those in New Jersey. 

Dr. Dennar joined the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics at Tulane University School of Medicine in 2008. She currently serves as the Program Director for the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatric Residency Program and as the Medical Director for Tulane Internal Medicine Residency Clinics. 

Since arriving in New Orleans, Dr. Dennar has been instrumental in obtaining NCQA recognition for two prominent clinics in New Orleans, including Tulane’s residency clinic -- one of the nation’s few residency clinics with NCQA status.

Dr. Dennar has received both local and national grants to support her work in community developmental screening clinics. In 2011, Dr. Dennar developed the state’s only Daycare Developmental Surveillance Program (DDSP) Child Development Initiative and became certified both locally and nationally as a Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) through the National Training Institute for Child Health Care Consultants at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.

Her current research interests consist of improving transition of care services for adolescents, creating educational tools to identify childhood developmental delays in residency and community clinic, disparities in health to reduce negative health outcomes in minority patients, and meaningful ways of managing of chronic non-cancerous pain in children and adults. 

Dr. Dennar remains committed to bridging the gap between academic and community medicine, particularly in underserved populations, through community outreach programs, research, curriculum development, and residency education."
