Dr. Raza is a board-certified, Internal Medicine-trained physician, currently practicing in the vibrant community of Chicago. Dr. Raza completed his medical schooling at Punjab Medical College on a full scholarship, and then immigrated to the United States in 2016 to pursue residency training. He completed Internal Medicine residency at Ascension Health Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, IL where he was heavily involved in the program’s wellness activities and met his wife, a fellow dermatologist.
Upon graduating from residency, Dr. Raza began working as an attending hospitalist at the University of Chicago in Hyde Park. While caring for patients with end-stage conditions like diabetes, heart failure, and cancer, Dr. Raza realized that he was drawn to understanding the primary prevention of chronic illness. His own father’s life-threatening heart attack and triple bypass surgery put this into perspective. This is how the idea for Chicago Direct Primary Care was born.
To supplement his clinical skills, Dr. Raza completed an additional board-certification in Obesity Medicine and began working with several Sports Medicine physicians in the community. A personal experience with a full-thickness ACL tear led him to further explore the topics of maintaining healthy muscle mass and mobility to support healthy aging. Dr. Raza firmly believes that a healthy lifestyle, coupled with the proper screening and interventions can support an optimal aging process.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Raza enjoys taking serene strolls, also known as “wellness loops,” along the Chicago lakefront and exploring healthy restaurant options with his wife. He is passionate about cooking, constantly seeking out new and exciting recipes to try. He is an avid reader, gym-goer, and world traveler.
