"As I complete my 21st year in my Internal Medicine practice, I reflect upon another year of personal change and adjustment to challenges impacting medicine in recent years. It has been a continuous balancing act between taking care of a large number of patients and finding time to give each one the attention they deserve while finding time for my family as they transition to different stages of life. Therefore, after much planning, I have transitioned my practice to a Concierge Model on March 1, 2019.
I spent much of the last year studying for my 3rd Internal Medicine Board exam (taken every 10 years), and I continue to find practicing medicine a very rewarding experience and enjoy treating my patients based on the most current recommendations. I am grateful to have a career in which I get the opportunity to help patients every day and am fortunate that my practice has thrived despite all the changes to medicine in the last 20 years. These modifications have been vast and range from handwritten charts being converted to computerized medical records, hospitalists taking over inpatient medicine, and insurance companies trying to dictate what can and can’t be ordered for patients. These developments have made it increasingly difficult to serve my large number of patients in the effective manner in which I aspire without sacrificing irreplaceable time with family and friends."
