One new and promising program is Direct Primary Care (DPC). For nominal monthly fees paid directly to our clinic, patients receive Primary Care and same or next day services whenever needed, including a variety of inexpensive in-clinic labs. No co-pays are collected and no insurance billing takes place. This expedites your clinic time while allowing for phone and online visits to save you more time. DPC is especially smart for self-employed individuals, small companies, large companies, and just plain savvy folks.
Coupling DPC with low premium/high deductible insurance found in Bronze Plans with a health savings account (HSA) on the health exchange saves patients a considerable amount of money. This technique allows patients to keep their own money in an HSA that rolls over year to year, which is tax free going in and coming out. Just as importantly, it provides the necessary cushion for catastrophic illnesses.
