"Melinda (Mel) Riter MD PhD and her husband Charlie are excited to be returning to the Sandpoint area where Charlie was raised.
Dr. Riter graduated magna cum laude from The Colorado College where she studied biochemistry, physics, and math. Over the next 8 years she completed both her medical and her research doctorate at the University of Colorado, working on tissue engineering and wound healing. After a year of medical internship at Stanford University, she completed 3 years of dermatology residency at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU). She developed a special interest in psoriasis, and for 2 years led the Center for Excellence in Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis as an OHSU faculty member. At OHSU she earned grants to create programs helping residents of rural communities gain access to dermatology specialty care.
Melinda is looking forward to developing long-term relationships with patients in Northern Idaho and helping each patient find their healthiest self. She loves all aspects of dermatology but has special interest in caring for elderly patients, rural populations, patients with psoriasis and other chronic skin conditions, acne, and skin cancer. She enjoys travel, reading, and exploring the woods with her husband and dogs. Dr. Riter looks forward to hearing stories from patients about their vacations, loved ones, hobbies, and adventures outdoors. "
