"Hi, I’m Dr. Alan. Son of Max and Jan Barnes, I have been a lifelong native of Cartersville, Ga. After graduating from Cartersville High School, I attended The University of Georgia and graduated with a B.S. in Biological Science. I then headed to the midwest to begin my career in medicine at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. I always knew I wanted to return to Cartersville to plant my roots, so I felt fortunate to complete my residency training at the Floyd Family Medicine program in Rome, Georgia. While there, I trained in both outpatient and inpatient settings, delivered babies, cared for patients of all ages, assisted in surgeries, and became proficient at a variety of medical procedures. In 2016, I became a Board Certified Family Physician by the state of Georgia.
Following residency, I started working at a local Urgent Care and Primary Care clinic in Cartersville. In that role, I was able to achieve my goal of practicing medicine in my hometown and I loved being able to care for my community. But something was missing. I soon came to realize that there had to be a way for me to provide better care for my patients. When I discovered the Direct Primary Care model, I knew it was how I always envisioned practicing family medicine. I believe in practicing medicine the "old fashioned way". I want to connect with my patients, build relationships, and truly know their stories and their families. At Georgia Direct Family Care, I hope to give my patients the care and tools that they need to live happier, healthier lives."
