"Dr. Reames IV is a board certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with expertise in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery. He also performs peripheral nerve surgery and cranial neurosurgery including brain tumors.
Dr. Reames IV is originally from Sumter, South Carolina and completed his undergraduate and medical school degrees in Charleston, SC. He was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi national honor society while at The Citadel where he graduated Magna cum laude. During his junior year at the Medical University of South Carolina he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
He completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Virginia. During that time he also spent 12 months in New Zealand practicing intracranial neurosurgery before serving as chief resident at UVA. He went on to complete a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at the Semmes-Murphey Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee where he gained special training in tubular spine surgery, robotic surgery, and scoliosis correction.
He has written approximately 20 peer reviewed scientific papers and book chapters including publications in The Journal of Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery, Spine, The Spine Journal, and various spinal textbooks. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Georgia Neurological Society, and Southern Neurosurgical Society."
