"Dr. Trotter is originally from Cuba where he attended the University of Havana School of Medicine completing five years of medical school. After relocating to Miami in 2002, he worked for Miami Dade Fire Rescue/Ocean Rescue division and private ambulance companies for two years before attending St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine in the Cayman Islands from where he graduated in 2008. Dr. Trotter completed one year of general surgery training, followed by three years of internal medicine training at Mount Sinai Medical Center, FL and graduated in 2013. He continued to work as a hospitalist physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center and Memorial Regional Hospital for two more years before joining our practice.
Dr. Trotter is actively involved with teaching residents and medical students at Mount Sinai. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including “Intern of the Year,” the “Maimonides Award for Compassion, Understanding and Knowledge” and “Physician of the Month” twice. Dr. Trotter has been involved in multiple case presentations at medical conferences such as the American College of Physicians, and published in medical journals including the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Research and Western Journal of Emergency Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He has a special interest in kidney disease and acute in-patient conditions. He is married and has two children. Dr. Trotter enjoys sailing since his days on the National Sailing and Windsurfing Team for Cuba. Also he enjoys basketball, outdoor sports and spending time with his family."
