"Richard M. Hays, M.D., is board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine. At Conviva Wellington West, he leads a team of compassionate, patient-focused primary care professionals with a commitment to medical excellence. Dr. Hays has been a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians since 1990. After growing up in Palm Beach Gardens, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, in May 1979. He earned his medical degree from the University Of Florida College Of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, in 1983, and then he completed a residency at the Duke Family Medicine Residency Program in Durham, North Carolina, in 1986. Dr. Hays is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. He has been in private practice in West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, and Wellington since 1989. Dr. Hays was the Chief of Staff of Palm Beach Regional Hospital from 1990-1992 and at Wellington Regional from 2008-2012. He served as Chief Medical Officer of Wellington Regional Medical Center from 2013 to 2020 and the Designated Institutional Official of Wellington Regional Medical Center from 2017 to 2020. He was named Florida Family Physician of the Year in 2010. Dr. Hays’ academic appointments include Clinical Assistant Professor of Florida State University College of Medicine and Preceptor of Florida Atlantic University College of Nursing. He is on the active staff of Wellington Regional Medical Center and affiliate staff of Palms West Hospital. Dr. Hays served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is a past President and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians."
