Doctor Details:

"I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and received a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. My amazing wife and I moved to Milwaukee in 1997, where I completed my Doctor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in 2002. I completed a Residency in Family Practice at the St. Michael Hospital in Milwaukee, WI (2002–2005). I was selected as Assistant Chief Resident and then Chief Resident for the program. I received honors and awards for teaching high school diversity programs, nursing, and nurse practitioner programs as well as assisting medical students through their training at MCW. I did this all while running an established primary care practice."

Clinic Details:

"Our model gives primary care physicians and patients a meaningful alternative to the typical fee-for-service insurance. The model covers all or most primary care services including common clinical, laboratory, and consultation services; care coordination; and acute and chronic comprehensive care management. Our "Direct Primary Care" model charges a simple monthly, quarterly, or annual subscription fee. We essentially extract the primary care services component from the insurance system. We charge less for services and give our patients unheard-of access to their doctor. We help people save money by charging less for our subscription fees than insurance copays and deductibles would cost. How is this possible? Well, instead of being paid by insurance companies for billing codes, we are paid directly by our subscribers for their care. We work with and for the patient. No insurance company—no middle person—no inflated charges to make the system work. We provide many in-office lab tests, procedures, and treatments as part of your subscription. No co-pays—no insurance hassles—no paperwork—no prior authorization. 90% of your health care can be taken care of in our office and included with your subscription. We are better able to provide same-day or next-day appointments, access to secured communication via text messaging, and an email patient portal system. By leveraging technology, we make it easier to communicate with us, giving you a direct line to your doctor to triage your situation and to coordinate your care. We can communicate with medical specialists and coordinate care on your behalf. Communication options are available to our patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To make sure we always have time to communicate with you, we limit the number of patients under the care of a doctor to between 600-800. In contrast, your fee-for-service doctor may have over 2,500 patients to manage! We restore the human element to medicine that has been missing since third-party agencies began to structure how doctors practice medicine. We are motivated by the quality of care we give instead of the number of patients we see. Our hallmark is the amount of time we spend with our patients. The structure of our clinic enables unhurried interactions during which we listen, discuss, and teach. We take time to review therapeutic lifestyle choices and the risks and benefits of medications and procedures. We help you make treatment decisions that will improve and promote long-term health outcomes. We usually spend 30-60 minutes with each patient.. Longer or shorter appointments can be arranged. Dr. Thomas is a true general family practitioner who is experienced, caring, and enthusiastic! He treats children, adults, and elderly patients. We are a full-spectrum clinic, managing chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure, mental health, urgent care, sports injuries, smoking cessation, medical weight loss—the whole kit-and-caboodle of primary care (excluding prenatal care). The "direct primary care" (DPC) model makes sense and is a necessary first step to changing our flawed U.S. health care system. The DPC model offers a meaningful alternative to the current fee-for-service insurance model. I invite you to e-mail me if you have any questions, and we can discuss if our clinic is right for you. Check out our FAQ for more information. I'm so happy to be able provide primary health care to the Pueblo community. I'm honored...so "thank you!" For those of you who don't know me and my style of practice, I'm a passionate and compassionate physician who enjoys what I do. It’s intrinsic and natural to my character and personality. I look forward to being your partner in health!"
