"Hi, I am Kim Paxton I am originally from Wisconsin where I had lived for 25 years but was raised in Southern California. I earned my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) along with a Leadership in Health Informational Technology Certificate (LHIT-C) from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 2012; an MSN as an Adult Nurse Practitioner from Marquette University in 1999. I am an ANCC board certified adult nurse practitioner and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with a practice focus on health promotion and prevention. Health promotion, prevention and individual wellness is the focus of the care that I engage in with my patients. I believe that the process of maintaining health is a shared partnership between the patient and their health care provider. This is a collaborative individualized care process in which I employ an evidence based approach blended with the patient’s immediate needs, capabilities, and health goals. As a health care provider, I strive to empower and support a patient’s ability to manage immediate care needs and achieve long term health goals. I utilize an integrative approach to acute and chronic care needs through integration of not just medication as a means to manage health issues but include technologic, nutritional, physical activity and mental wellness interventions. If your care needs exceed the scope of my practice, myself and the team here at Heartlight clinic will help you navigate the process."
