"Dr. Roberto Roizenblatt received his medical degree from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. He went on to complete an internship in Internal Medicine at Jacobi Medical Center in New York, followed by successfully completing two residencies in ophthalmology at the Federal University of Sao Paulo and later at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Roizenblatt trained in a competitive two-year Vitreoretinal Surgery fellowship in which he benefited from a high volume of complex cases. Following being awarded his PhD focusing on biometric iris recognition systems, he did his Post-Doctorate work for two years at the prestigious Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California. It was during this time that he was a member of the team that developed the world’s premier retinal prosthesis, a currently FDA approved implantable device intended to restore visual function for the blind. Dr. Roizenblatt has authored and co-authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals. He enjoys performing complex vitreoretinal surgeries with areas of surgical interest which include retinal detachment repair, retinal complications of anterior segment surgery, macular surgery and diabetic retinopathy, among others. Dr. Roizenblatt is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, European Society of Retina Specialists, Vit-Buckle Society and American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is the first US ophthalmologist to have obtained the title of Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology. He is licensed by the Medical Board of California and Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Roizenblatt performs surgeries at hospitals and outpatient surgery centers in Orange County, Torrance and Long Beach."
