"Dr. Hugo Yang started his career in medicine in 2000 and joined the Encina practice in 2018 bringing over 18 years of experience in medicine. Dr. Yang has consistently scored at the highest levels of patient satisfaction during his medical career.
Dr. Yang comes from a family of physicians with his father an Immunologic Oncologist and his older brother an Infectious Disease specialist. Aspiring to be a physician early on, he chose to attend the 7-year Honors Medical Program at Boston University, achieving his medical degree one year early. He attended University of California San Francisco (UCSF) to complete his residency in Internal Medicine, and subsequently had the honor of being chosen among his peers to serve as a Chief Medical Resident. He started the first 3 years of his career in San Francisco as an Internist and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF, before being recruited to the Palo Alto Medical Clinic.
Since joining PAMF, he has been engaged in leadership as a Medical Director for Ambulatory Informatics at Sutter Health as well as serving as the Associate Chair for Internal Medicine overseeing five regional departments. During his time in Palo Alto, he also achieved an extra subspecialty Board Certification in Clinical Informatics to become dual board-certified, with a particular interest in Clinical Decision Support (improving the quality of medicine through computer guidance).
