"Patients deserve respect, courtesy, efficiency, and expertise from their physician. They should be involved in decisions. To get the best outcome patients need time for care; and a high degree of availability and accessibility from the physician. There needs to be a high level of communication and availability of information. That means the care must be "Patient Centered". The physician must consider the patients' needs, wants, perspectives and individual experiences. Patients should be given the opportunity to offer input, and take part in their care. It is the physician's responsibility to promote understanding and enhance the patient-physician partnership."
