"Dr. Sun spent most of his childhood in Virginia but also lived for a few years and Kenya and in Hong Kong. He attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology, as well as for his medical school degree. He completed the Primary Care Internal Medicine residency program at UC Davis and stayed an extra year to teach as a Chief Resident there. Before coming to San Diego, he spent four months in Ecuador volunteering at a hospital in Quito and learning Spanish while living with a local family.
He then moved to San Diego and practiced at Kaiser for two years before starting his private practice at Scripps La Jolla in 2002. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the California Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Medical Society, and he is certified as a Qualified Medical Examiner for the State of California. He speaks conversational Spanish and Mandarin Chinese."
