"Dr. Rachel Gerard is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner with specialties in Family, Adult, and Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Gerard is a native Californian and grew up in San Diego. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Her love for Internal Medicine arose when she worked as an inpatient Registered Nurse at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics on the Abdominal Organ Transplant Unit, one of the nation's largest transplant centers. The highly complex medical management and emotional journeys of transplant patients motivated her to continue her degree to become a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Gerard returned to San Diego and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of San Diego's Doctor of Nursing Program. With a background as an inpatient Registered Nurse, Dr. Gerard is able to incorporate her critical care skills, active listening, and endearing bedside manner into every patient visit to make her patients feel comfortable and cared for. She focuses on preventative and holistic care with a goal to maintain and improve each patient’s greatest quality of life. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking with her dog, traveling and experiencing new cultures."
