"“Teledermatology is the wave of the future,” says Dr. Weiss. “It allows patients who live in underserved areas to still see a board-certified specialist. Similarly, it makes it possible for busy parents, professionals, students and others to receive care outside of normal office hours.”
An award-winning researcher, Dr. Weiss led clinical studies that resulted in approval of three new therapies by the Food and Drug Administration. He has also authored numerous articles and presented research findings at major medical conferences.
His areas of special interest include psoriasis, dermatologic surgery and Mohs surgery – a precise surgical technique that is widely considered to be the most effective technique for removing the two most common skin cancers – basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. During a Mohs procedure, very thin layers of cancerous skin are removed one-by-one and examined until only cancer-free tissue remains.
When Dr. Weiss isn’t seeing patients or conducting research, you can often find him sailing, kayaking or diving – all outdoor activities requiring extra sun protection and skin care."
