"Dr. Robert L. Villalobos is a board certified ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive eye care with an emphasis in “medical retina”, or diseases affecting the retina.
Dr. Villalobos received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in El Paso, Texas, and then graduated from medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Cd. Juarez in Cd, Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. After completing an internship in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he finished an internal medicine and ophthalmology residency program in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dr. Villalobos went on to complete a medical retina fellowship in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Villalobos is licensed in New Mexico and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the New Mexico Medical Society. He is involved in many local civic organizations. Before joining Southwestern Eye Center, Dr. Villalobos had his own private practice for over 20 years.
Dr. Villalobos and his wife reside in Las Cruces. His hobbies include reading, travel, sports and trivia. Dr. Villalobos is fluent in Spanish."
