"Dr. Doug Cifuentes is an Aikido practitioner at Scottsdale Sports Medicine Institute.
He chose this path in an effort to gain a deeper insight and wisdom into the principles of life and what is required to be the best human being.
The term Aiki often translated as the harmony of forces coming together. The principle of Aiki is not thought to be of Japanese origin nor unique to Japanese martial traditions as it is understood to be the Yin Yang of China or the Fire and Water principle of India. It’s not only the duality of these forces in existence, but also the understanding of how these opposing forces harmonize in nature (the universe) that forms the basis for this study.
Dr. Cifuentes finds Aikido to be extremely challenging, but a nourishing practice that is transforming. It’s a practice he feels can be of benefit to many as it not only helps us understand ourselves as human beings, but also the world around us.
He is an Aikido practitioner 3rd Dan (3rd Degree Black Belt) at Aikido Schools of Ueshiba and a board-certified Internal Medicine Hospitalist."
