"Paige Walend was born in a small mountain town in North Carolina and grew up in the beautiful southeast. She attended the North Carolina School for Science and Mathematics (the original STEM high school in the US) for her junior and senior years. She earned a bachelors in Russian and Soviet Studies with a minor in Biology at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. Returning to North Carolina, she completed her medical degree at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (Go Heels!). Dr. Walend travelled west to Arizona for residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix and decided that since everyone likes to retire in Arizona, why not just stay? She started private practice in 1996 in Ahwatukee, AZ. After seven years there, she joined East Valley Family Physicians. In 2016, Dr. Walend transitioned her practice to an MDVIP format and continues to enjoy the extra time and availability for patient care. She believes that medical practice should be a partnership between the physician and the patient, focused on the complete wellbeing, rather than just disease processes. She is married and has two daughters and two dogs. She enjoys hiking, travel, college basketball, reading, and spending time with her family."
