I believe that practicing medicine is still an art.  Knowing when to intervene, when to test or just observe, when to treat or not treat, and to encourage and motivate, is truly an art form.  Each patient is unique as are their social and family tendencies, all of which must be taken into account in the treatment plan. Sometimes taking care of a patient is less about art and more about taking a systematic approach by providing the routine maintenance exams and screenings that promote good health."
