"After residency, I moved to Selma, Alabama, where I practiced for twelve years. In 1993, I moved back to Birmingham to begin a sabbatical in Sports Medicine. After completing the sabbatical, I remained in Birmingham, and continue to enjoy a career of over 30 years in Internal Medicine with the last 2 years as a concierge physician.
After practicing Internal Medicine for nearly 30 years, I decided that it was time to make a change in my life. With a patient load of approximately 4500 patients, I felt that I no longer had the necessary time to spend with each patient, individually. I love getting to know my patients, and having a true relationship with each of them is important to me.
I no longer feel rushed with my patients. I have the time to listen, and to get a true understanding of what is going on with each of them.
These past two years, since changing to concierge medicine, have been the most enjoyable years of my practice. Now, I truly look forward to getting up each morning and going into my practice."
